Our wine club recently savored the bold and captivating Touriga Nacional, a Portuguese varietal known for its depth and character. Here's a summary of our tasting experience, based on the detailed notes and ratings from our members. We understand it is impossible to judge an entire varietal by one wine but we tried to choose a good representative wine.
Our members recommended pairing this Touriga Nacional with hearty dishes like BBQ lamb or steak, and some even suggested enjoying it alongside a fine cigar for a luxurious experience.
The consensus was clear: this Touriga Nacional is a very nice wine with vibrant energy and oaky undertones. Members described it as a varietal that "keeps you alive" with its bold presence and noted its promising aging potential. It's a wine that delivers now but will reward those who cellar it for future enjoyment.
Touriga Nacional proved to be a standout for our club, offering a bold, fruit-driven experience with a structured and balanced profile. Whether paired with a savory meal or enjoyed on its own, this wine is a delightful choice for enthusiasts seeking depth and character. We look forward to revisiting it as it continues to evolve!
We usually meet the 3rd Saturday of the month. E-mail us for our next meeting time and location. If you see a meeting scheduled on the calendar come visit and see if we are a good fit.

Please reach us at info@cchwc.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.
You will be joining a club with other winemakers with 100's of years of combined experience. You will get to attend our monthly educational meetings and wine tastings. You will have access to club equipment like crushers and presses. You will be able to participate in group volume purchases for supplies and most importantly grapes straight from the vineyards at wholesale industry pricing. We have also partnered with commercial wineries which gives us access to some of the best grapes in Washington. You will meet new friends and enjoy the camaraderie.
Most of our new members have made a batch of wine from either grapes or a kit but we welcome all enthusiasts and future wine makers. Our club is an educational club for all levels
Most members start off with a 5-gallon batch of wine. This will roughly take 100lbs of grapes that can range from $100-$200 based on varietal, some yeast that runs about $5 and some time. This will yield about 2 cases.
Most people starting out will need a fermentation vessel. This can be a food grade bucket and an aging vessel which is usually a carboy. An airlock, a racking cane, and either a keg or bottles for the finished product. You can buy used equipment for under $50 or new for around $100 from local suppliers. Large equipment like crushers and presses are owned by the club and available to use for free.
As of 2025, the current price is $50 for the year. That's right for the YEAR!
